Classification and Gram Stain
Thermus aquaticus is an extremophile. An extremophile is an organism adapted to living in conditions of extreme temperatrue, pressure, or chemical concentration, as in highly acidic or salty environments. Examples of other extremophiles are chloroflexus aurantiacus, paralvinella sulfincola, pompeii worm, and snottite. The gram stain of Thermus aquaticus is negative.
